Kevin Brown Taken by Dodgers in MLB Draft

NEW YORK -- Senior pitcher Kevin Brown was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the ninth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball amateur draft, becoming the 282nd pick overall.

Brown, who earned 2nd-team All-CCAA honors this season, was the second CCAA player chosen following Cal Poly Pomona pitcher Cody Ponce, who was selected in the second round by the Milwaukee Brewers as the 55th overall pick.

A Thousand Oaks native, Brown missed all of 2014 and most of 2013, but rebounded strong as a senior as he sat 4th in the CCAA in wins, 7th in strikeouts, 10th in strikeouts per game and 17th in ERA after the regular season.  Brown's biggest game came at UC San Diego in a complete-game win to salvage one of the four games in the series, fanning nine Tritons and allowing just one earned run.

"I would like to congratulate Kevin and his family on being drafted in the 9th round of today's MLB Amateur Draft," begins CSUDH interim head coach Tyler Wright.  "Kevin was an integral part of our success this past year and is a great teammate, and hard worker and has a big arm.

"We all wish Kevin the best of luck as he pursues his professional baseball dreams."

Brown joins Bubby Rossman in the Dodger farm system after Rossman was selected by the Dodgers as one of three Toros selected in the MLB Amateur Draft in 2014.
