Butte JC Standout Arthur Caldwell Signs NLI With Men's Basketball Program

CARSON -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball program received a huge boost with Butte College's Arthur Caldwell signing a National Letter of Intent to play with the Toros in 2015-16, it was announced by CSUDH Men's Basketball Interim Head Coach Steve Becker.  Caldwell will join Price HS standout Roderick Williams next year after Williams signed his NLI earlier this year.

"We are extremely excited to announce the signing of Arthur Caldwell, who comes from a rich tradition of success at Butte College and Salinas High School," says Becker excitedly.  "Arthur will add much needed depth inside for us and, with his ability to score, rebound, and make winning plays, we expect him to be an immediate force in the CCAA.

"More importantly than his on-the-floor success, he is an extremely bright young man who has done a great job in the classroom and is a winner!  Arthur has been very well coached at Butte College by coach Russ Critchfield, and as a testament to his hard work, Arthur has achieved a great deal of success in his college basketball career.

"We are excited about Arthur and are eager to get to work with him!"

A 6-5, 220 pound force, Caldwell led the Roadrunners to a pair of Golden Valley Conference Titles where he twice was named the GVC's Player of the Year and 1st-team all-league selection.  He also earned a pair of 1st-team All-State honors while averaging 19.5 points and 6.7 rebounds as a sophomore and 19.9 points and 6.6 rebounds as a freshman, shooting 57% and 53% from the floor in those respective years.  Caldwell earned the Northern California Player of the Year nod from JCHOOPS.com as well, capping a two-year run in which he also was named a 2-time California Community College Athletics Association selection.

In 2015-16, the Toros welcome back All-CCAA selection Justin Sadler and leading scorer Ivan Dooley, as well as seven additional returners.
