Wardour Signs Free Agent Contract With Milwaukee Brewers

Toro senior pitcher Sean Wardour signing his professional contract with the Milwaukee Brewers organization
TORRANCE -- Despite the conclusion of the Major League Baseball amateur draft last Saturday, the baseball wheels continued to turn for Toro senior Sean Wardour after the Torrance native signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday, and will leave for Phoenix today to join the Arizona League Brewers, the minor league team of the Arizona League and the Rookie affiliate of the MLB Brewers.

"
It's a great feeling knowing that I have achieved what I've wanted for so long, but there's still a long way to go," said Wardour after signing his contract.

"And I am so thankful to be given the opportunity to continue to play the sport of baseball.
"

After being offered his contract, Wardour sat down with the Brewers' area scout yesterday before inking his deal.

The Arizona League Brewers participate in the Central Division, and play their home games at the 8,000-seat Maryvale Baseball Park, which opened in 1988.

The Brewers won the division championship in 2010, and the league titles in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2010.

The team's current manager is Nestor Corredor, with Steve Cline serving as pitching coach.

"Sean has been a workhorse for us the last three years and we are delighted for him and his family and look forward to following his professional career," says CSUDH baseball head coach Murphy Su'a.

"I'm thankful that the Brewers organization recognized Sean's pitching ability and competitiveness.  They won't be sorry."
