Hall and Jimenez Named Daktronics 1st-Team All-Region Selections

Senior Khryssi Steele named to 2nd-team

Stephanie Jimenez (L) and Jessica Hall were named 1st-team Daktronics All-Region selections
SAN FRANCISCO -- Success begets success.  That's one of the many adages that applies to the Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team during their epic 2012 season after juniors Stephanie Jimenez and Jessica Hall were named to the 1st-team Daktronics All-Region selections, the first such honors for both players.

Senior Khryssi Steele rounded out the three total Toros selected with a 2nd-team All-Region honor as voted on by Sports Information Directors from the West Region.

Hall continued her breakout junior campaign, adding the Daktronics 1st-team award to he 1st-team All-CCAA honor and 1st-team Capital One Academic All-District awards.  The third baseman
was amongst the CCAA leaders in offensive categories for the 2012 CCAA Co-Regular Season Champions, and boasts team bests of .355 batting average, 41 runs and 65 hits entering this weekend's Super Regional.

Named the NCAA West Region I Most Outstanding Player after earning all three wins to help the Toros to this weekend against defending NCAA Champion UC San Diego, Jimenez leads her team with a 25-5 record and 1.58 ERA, posting 193 strikeouts against just 34 walks in 204.0 innings of work.  She also joined Hall with 1st-team Capital One Academic All-District honors.

Steele, meanwhile, adds a 2nd-team All-Region honor to her 2nd-team All-CCAA award earned earlier this year.  The senior speedster currently is batting .326 after starting all 57 games played, adding 59 hits, 34 runs scored, 13 RBI and 4-for-6 in stolen bases.

Of the 29 total selections on the two teams, the CCAA boasted 21 players selected, with Sonoma State junior Samanta Lipperd earning the All-Region Pitcher of the Year award, and Cal State Monterey Bay utility freshman was named the All-Region Player of the Year.

The 13 members of the All-West Region first team will now be placed on the 2012 Daktronics, Inc./NCAA Division II All-America ballot, to be announced later this month.
