Kurowski became the third Toro pitcher this year to sign with a Major League Baseball team
CARSON -- Fresh off a teammate's signing with the Boston Red Sox as a free agent last month, southpaw Kody Kurowski followed suit by signing his own free agent contract, staying on the West coast after inking a deal with the Seattle Mariners.

"We are thrilled for Kody Kurowski and the opportunity he has to play professional baseball within the Seattle Mariners organization," beamed his ecstatic former head skipper, CSUDH baseball head coach Murphy Su'a.

Kurowski led the Toros with his 9-4 record, fanning 60 batters against just 33 walks and allowing just four long balls in 8.2 innings pitched.  He struck out at least 5 batters in five of his starts, including a season-best 8 Ks in a 9-1 win over CS East Bay (March 12).

In the CCAA, Kurowski was third in games started, and fifth in wins and innings pitched, and marks the third Toro to sign with an MLB club after the Los Angeles Dodgers kicked things off by selecting Bret Montgomery in the 46th round of the draft, before Matt Phillips signed with the BoSox in late June.

"Kody has worked very hard and continued to do so even after the 2010 MLB draft had passed.  We know that he will be an asset to their organization and we are certain that he will continue to improve and flourish under their tutelage," concluded Su'a.
