McCall Fires Back in Round Two of NCAA D2 Central/West Super Regional Play

PALM DESERT -- One day after starting off with a dismal 84 strokes, senior Cavin McCall shaved seven strokes off his card to finish round two of the NCAA Division II Central/West Super Regionals with a 77, improving his pole position from No. 99 to 90 at the
Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.

On the flip side, junior Ryan Indovina suffered a four-stroke setback to lower his day one score of 70 to a 2-over par 74, now sitting in a three-way tie for seventh place after the first two rounds.

McCall began day two with two birdies on the first three holes, firing two more on six and eight to get him back in thick of things.  The back nine, however, gave the San Diego native trouble after shooting a double-bogey on 10, regrouping for birdies on 11 and 15, but then settling for another bogey on 18.

Indovina, meanwhile, bogeyed the first two holes after making par yesterday, and evened the front nine with a bogey on seven and birdie on nine to sit just two over, firing two birdies and misfiring with two bogeys on the back nine for his final score of 74.

Individually, Chico State's Brandon Harkins and Western New Mexico's Gordon Webb are tied for the lead at 4-under, with Wildcat Kyle Souza one stroke back, Sonoma State's Ryan Carter two behind, and CS Stanislaus' Trevor Blair and Fort Lewis' David Schroeder three shots back and tied for fifth place.

The third and final round commences tomorrow as McCall tees off at 8:10am and Indovina at 12:40pm.
