STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Two-thousand ten California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Year Emiley McEwen ended her record-setting sophomore campaign with a bang after earning her first All-America award of her career, a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) 3rd-team selection.

McEwen, who was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association's (CCAA) Player of the Year, earned two All-Region honors after after establishing the school record for home runs and sacrifice flies both in a single season and in a career with two more years on the horizon.

From Anaheim Hills, McEwen claimed the program's second-ever CCAA MVP award and first since 2005, starting all 54 games at shortstop en route to 1st-team All-CCAA and CCAA Player of the Week honors, also leading the NCAA in sacrifice flies and placing 37th in RBI per game.

McEwen also led the CCAA in RBI and sacrifice flies, was second in home runs, 5th in slugging percentage, 9th in hits and 10th in batting average, while enjoying 18 multi-hit and 15 multi-RBI contests.

There were just two selections from CCAA schools, led by 2nd-team All-America Kris Lesovsky from UC San Diego, with just five total from the West region, including two from NCAA Championship participant Hawai'i Pacific.

McEwen's selection is the fourth all-time All-America honor in CSUDH softball history, and the first since 2005 when Cindy Perry claimed her second consecutive All-America honor following her CCAA Player of the Year accolade.

The Toros, who finished the 2010 campaign at 33-21, 23-13 CCAA, return McEwen and two sophomore pitchers in 2011, looking to earn a spot in the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2008.
