Toros Grab Eight Seedings in Track & Field Outdoor National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's track & field team has a chance to grab the most number of All-American awards in a single year, 14 to be exact, as the NCAA has made their selection for the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, naming seven Toros in eight events, highlighted by already two-time All-American Chanel Parker (pictured)who will see action in four events.

The eight total represented events is an all-time high for CSUDH, the previous most they have sent came in 2002 in which six Toros competed in six events to result in seven All-American nods.

In her first year as a Toro in 2009, Parker was the lone Toro to see competition at the nationals, en route to grabbing an All-American award in the indoor championships in the 60m hurdles before doing it again in the 100m hurdles at the outdoor finals.

Parker has a chance to set Toro history as currently only two Toros have more than two All-American nods, Marcia Fenton has three while Carmelita Jeter reigns in with six.

Joining Parker is the CCAA Freshman of the Year, Monikkia White, who will see action in the 100m and 200m dashes, as well as her share of the 4x100m relay team.

As the only Toro to set an automatic qualifying mark in the 2010 season, Nancy Blake enters action in the 400m dash as the highest seeded Toro in action, going in as the No. 8 seed.

The big story comes from the relay teams, for the second time ever the Toros will be sending both the 4x100m and 4x400m squads.  The last time both teams competed in nationals came in 2002 with the 4x400m coming home with All-American titles.
