Indovina and McCall Qualify for NCAA D-II Men's Golf Regional as Individuals

Senior Cavin McCall (L) and junior Ryan Indovina will represent CSUDH in the NCAA Regional as individuals for the first time in six years
CARSON -- Junior Ryan Indovina (right) and senior Cavin McCall have qualified as two of the top individuals to participate in the NCAA West Region Championship, to be played May 3rd through 5th in Palm Desert.

Indovina and McCall become the first Toro golfers to advance to post-season play since Bryan Newman made the cut in 2004, and the third and fourth Toros in the decade after David Kwon made his appearance in 2000.

Indovina paced the Toros in all seven tournaments, placing four top 10 and two top 20 finishes.  He averaged 72.53 strokes per round, with a low round of 67 in a dual match against UC San Diego, a low first two rounds of 140 at the Hanny Stanislaus invitational and a low 54-hole mark of 210, also at the Stanislaus invite in which he finished runner-up.

After his debut at the CS San Marcos tournament in early February in which Indovina shot a 215, he earned his first-career CCAA Player of the Week nod to get his Toro career off on the right foot.

McCall came on strong towards the end of the season, placing three top 20 and two top 10 finishes as a senior.  He averaged a 3-over par 75.32 for the season, tallying a low round of 69, two rounds of 138, and three rounds of 211, just one stroke back of Indovina at the Stanislaus invite.

The Toros just missed qualifying as a team, which would have been the first time since 1989, when CSUDH finished 12th.
