Neka Mixon (L) and Michael Cox both were tabbed 1st-team All-CCAA selections
WALNUT CREEK -- Juniors Michael Cox and Neka Mixon both were named 1st-team All-CCAA selections this afternoon, heading a list of four total Toros who were tabbed All-CCAA honorees as both squads play in the CCAA Championship Tournament's 1st-round games tonight.

Senior Tim McGrath and junior Marcquintice Davis were tabbed 2nd-team All-CCAA selections to round out the decorated Toro quartet.

Mixon leads her team in points, rebounds and steals, is third in blocks and tied for 5th in steals, and has led the team in scoring in nine of the 17 games in which she has played.  She has posted double-figure scoring in 15 contests, including a 33-point outburst at CSUEB (Feb 5), 29 and 28 points at CSUS (Jan 22) and vs CSUSB (Feb 19) respectively, scoring at least 20 points in eight games.  Additionally, had she participated in 75% of the team's contests, she would sit 2nd in steals, 3rd in points, 5th in both FT% and rebounds and 7th in FG% in the CCAA.

Cox has played just 19 of 27 games this season in his first year as a Toro, and has established himself as a force with which to be reckoned.  Averaging just over 28 minutes per contest entering tonight's 1st-round contest, Cox is shooting 58.8% from the field, with 10.4 ppg and 4.9 rpg averages and 19 blocks, numbers that would put him 4th in the CCAA in FG%, 18th in scoring and 21st in rebounds if the Rancho Cucamonga native had played in 75% of the team’s games, a percentage he will attain after tonight’s 1st round game.

The most athletic Toro, McGrath has scored in double-figures in 13 games , including a career-high 30 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and 10-of 12 from the foul line against CS East Bay en route to 21st in the league in scoring, while Davis has come on strong in his last 11 games, averaging 11.5 points, including a 20-point outburst in the 4-point loss against Humboldt State in which he drained 8-of-14 shots from the field, and four-straight games with at least 10 points entering tonight’s 1st-round playoff game.

The No. 8 seeded women's team travels to La Jolla to face top-seeded and No. 14 ranked UC San Diego, while the No. 4 seeded men's squad hosts No. 5 seed Chico State on the "Dave Yanai Court" in the Torodome, with both first tips set for 7:00 pm.
