Parker Nabs Spot in NCAA D-II Finals as Toros Storm 'Run for the Dream'

FRESNO -- One week after two Toros set provisional qualifying times for the NCAA DII Indoor Championships, Chanel Parker stormed the track at Fresno State's 'Run for the Dream', grabbing first place in the 55-meter hurdles with an automatic qualifying time of 7.97-seconds.

Far besting the automatic qualifying time needed of 8.03, Parker can now look to competing for a third All-American title at the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this coming March.

Taking away some of the limelight, Monikkia White also grabbed a qualifying standard time of 7.19 in the 55-meter dash, helping her to beat the provisional qualifying standard of 7.22.

The true success on the day came in the 1-mile relay team's efforts, Janette Morfin, Destiny Tyler, Monique Joseph and Breionna Jackson
all pushed each other to a second place finish in the event with a time of 4:07.23, enough to beat local rival Cal State L.A.'s time of 4:07.66 but not enough to take first which went to Division-I power USC (4:02.34).

Other Toro times include:

Judith Fisher - Long Jump (4.10m, 9th)
Teriana Loftin - Shot Put (9.60m, 7th)
Parker - 55-Meter Dash (7.21, 4th)
Dora Baldwin - 600-Yard Run (1:33.09, 12th)
Nancy Blake - 600-Yard Run (1:33.24, 13th)

The Toros will conclude the 2010 regular indoor track & field season next week, traveling back to Northern Arizona University on February 13th for the NAU Invitational.
