KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Senior Alex Munoz was named a 2nd-team All-Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America to lead three Toros named to region teams, it was announced earlier by the NSCAA.
Fellow senior Greg Piechota and junior All-American Ernie Ramos rounded out the trio with 3rd-team All-Region honors.
Munoz added his third career All-Region selection after earning a 1st-team All-CCAA honor last month despite missing first 8 games of the season. The Corona native ranked 7th in the CCAA in goals per game, and 8th in points per game, with his two game-winners coming against an arch-rival and an in-region rival.
Named a Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American, Ramos earned 2nd-team NSCAA region honors to go along with his 1st-team Daktronics All-Region and 1st-team All-CCAA selections in his first year as Toro after replacing a two-time NSCAA Player of the Year on the backline. Ramos' honors came after helping lead the Toros to 12 shutouts and 4 games with just 1 goal scored. The Rialto native provided leadership to an inexperience defense en route to starting 16 of 19 games played on the backline.
Piechota earned his second-consecutive 3rd-team All-Region selection after finishing with 5 assists and 4 goals, with 46.7% of his shots coming on frame. The San Diego native collected one multi-goal effort and one multi-assist contest after starting all 19 of his games played.
CSUDH, which finished 14-5-2, will return 19 players in 2011, after bidding a fond farewell to 9 seniors.
