San Angelo, TX -- Posting her best time of the season, and the tenth fastest mark for the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's track & field program, Chanel Parker peaked at the right time with a finish of 13.92 in the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships to award her a spot on the starting line in the final heat tomorrow.
The time of 13.92 is not only a top time for Parker, who qualified for the championships with a time of 14.03, but also places her firmly at the No. 10 spot on the Toros all-time fastest marks in the 100-meter hurdles.
All-American and recent CSUDH graduate Grace Fitchett is the current record-holder of the race with a time of 13.74 set at the 2007 NCAA championships.
Placing in the top-eight of today's preliminary race, Parker will now hit the blacktop in tomorrow's final heat, garnering her a second All-American title this year.
Shermaine Williams of J. C. Smith University was the leader in the prelims with a time of 13.20 while fellow CCAA-runner Laiah Blue of UC San Diego placed fifth with a time of 13.63.
Parker will set her sights on a Individual NCAA Championship title tomorrow at 4:25pm (PST) in the final heat.
