Toros Athletics to Say Goodbye to 30 Graduating Seniors

Carson, CA -- Building on its overall athletic success of the 2008-09 academic year, the Cal State Dominguez Hills athletic department is no stranger to academic success as well with 30 student-athletes set to turn their tassel from right to left as they receive their degree from CSUDH on Friday, May 22.

“Graduation day is the most fulfilling day of the entire year as we get to watch our student-athletes' hard work and determination in the classroom rewarded as they walk across the platform, shake the President's hand and receive their diploma,” states CSUDH Director of Athletics Patrick Guillen.

Already, Toros Athletics has seen a few of its graduates give back to the program in some shape or form. Tiffany Bull, who received her degree in the Fall of 2008 is the new Marketing & Promotions Coordinator while Jerit 'JC' Coleman, who is graduating tomorrow, served as an assistant baseball coach this spring. Additionally, Amy Livergood and Fawna Waldo, both four-year Toros, served as assistant women's soccer coaches this past fall.

Of the 30 student-athlete graduates this year, 13 competed in the 2008-09 academic year while 10 competed for a total of four years in the Cardinal & Gold.

“We pride ourselves that our athletes are students first and matriculation in our program is an expectation," concludes Guillen. "We know that the life skills they learned while practicing, competing and being part of a team is what will help them excel in the future. I am confident that CSUDH and our coaching staff has done a wonderful job in preparing our fine young men and women to go out and be successful in all of their future endeavors.

"Congratulations and remember … once a Toro always a Toro!”
