San Angelo, TX -- In what will most likely be a successful end to the 2009 outdoor track & field season, Chanel Parker is set to race in the NCAA Division II championships this weekend hosted by Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. Parker will enter as the No. 8 seed in the 100-meter hurdles after her top time of 14.03 seconds set this season.
Parker will first race on Friday, May 22 at 5:20pm (PST) in the qualifying heat. If she finishes in the top eight she will race in the final heat on Saturday, May 23 at 4:25pm where she will earn her second All-American award this year.
Parker earned her first All-American award earlier this year in the indoor track & field season after posting a time of 8.50 in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships. The time was not only a personal best for Parker but a new CSUDH record as well.
With a time provisional qualifying time of 14.03, Parker was granted a spot in the race as the No. 8 seed. Parker set the qualifying time earlier this season at the Cal/Nevada Championships, hosted by UCLA on March 29.
