Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics' 2009 Toros Scholarship Golf Classic is just one week away! Set for Monday, June 15, at the prestigious Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California, this annual event is pleased to welcome back Walter Neil, the External Affairs Manager of British Petroleum - Carson Refinery, as its Honorary Chairman.
The Classic, which serves as one of two major fundraisers for the Toros athletics program, has nearly sold out the event for the second time in four years, with all proceeds from the Golf Classic going towards student-athlete scholarships.
The day begins with a 9:30 a.m. registration and continental breakfast, followed by a boxed lunch accompanying an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start. The four-person “shamble,” a modified scramble format, will include contests for closest to the pin, longest drive, and a hole-in-one, along with many other surprises for the day’s participants.
Following the day’s play will be a silent auction consisting of many unique items to begin at 4:15 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:00 p.m., distribution of awards and prizes at 5:30 p.m., and the always-exciting live auction to conclude the day, set for a 6:00 p.m. start. Additionally, opportunity drawings will take place throughout the afternoon featuring CSUDH merchandise, apparel and other valuable prizes.
Only a handful of foursomes remain in the tournament, so reserve your spot today by downloading the information brochure and submitting it to the Athletics Department. In addition to participating in a foursome, sponsorship packages are available to help fund student-athlete scholarships for the coming years.
