Gallaugher's Repeat 1st-team Selection Leads Six Toros on NSCAA All-Region Teams

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Senior defender Kevin Gallaugher made a repeat appearance on the NSCAA 1st-team All-Region squad and was joined by senior midfielder Andrew Marinez and freshman keeper Markus Dickerson to highlight a total of six Toros named to all-region teams as announced earlier by the NSCAA.

Gallaugher finished a stellar senior season with a litany of awards, including 1st-team Daktronics All-America, 1st-team Daktronics All-Region, CCAA MVP Defense and 1st-team All-CCAA.  He helped lead the Toros to their second CCAA title in three years, as well as to their second-consecutive NCAA West Regional title.  In his career, Gallaugher has 5 All-America awards under his belt, along with the 2008 NCAA Championship, and the 2008 NSCAA Player of the Year award.

Marinez made his final of four years in Carson count, anchoring the Toros offense with 25 points, including a team-best 7 assists.  The Santa Monica native led the Toros with 4 game-winning goals en route to 3rd-team Daktronics All-America and 1st-team All-CCAA awards.

A redshirt freshman, Dickerson emerged as arguably the best keeper in the CCAA, and one of the best in the nation.  The Beaumont native posted 18 wins and 11 shutouts this season, including two blankings in the first two rounds of the NCAA playoffs en route to 2nd-team Daktronics All-Region and CCAA Newcomer of the Year nods.  As a freshman, Dickerson's wins, shutouts and 0.76 GAA place him 2nd, 3rd and 5th, respectively, in the CSUDH record books for a single season.

Senior defender Marco Pulido was the lone Toro to earn 2nd-team All-Region honors.  In his final campaign, the South Gate native helped the Toros to 11 shutouts, and 9 games allowing just one goal en route to 2nd-team Daktronics All-Region and 2nd-team All-CCAAhonors.

Sophomore Greg Piechota and junior Alex Munoz conclude the list of All-Region selections, each taking home a 3rd-team nod.  Piechota led the Toros with 10 goals, chipping in 4 assists, while Munoz added 2 goals and 4 assists in his first year in Carson, added his NSCAA hardware to 3rd-team All-CCAA honors.

The Toros, who finished 18-6-1, dropped a 1-0 contest to top-ranked and eventual NCAA Champion Fort Lewis University in an NCAA quarterfinal match-up on November 22, in Durango, Colorado, falling just three victories short of its quest for a repeat.  Next season, CSUDH is set to return 16 letter-winners, who look to continue the string of deep postseason runs.
