Bookmark and Share

CARSON -- The Toros pulled a powerhouse 3-0 sweep over Cal State Stanislaus with 25-20, 29-27 and 25-19 wins to grab their second win of the season.  Dominant in the offense, Samantha Maxwell posted 20 kills and six digs with a .239 attack percentage.

With 20 kills, Maxwell landed her second highest single-game total on the season, also posting her third highest attack percentage.  The second arm of the Toro offense, Ashley Clark came in with a double-double, landing 11 kills and 10 digs.

Defensively, Hilary Hougardy grabbed 21 digs, and with 309 on the season is 23 short of making the Toros' all-time top-five in single-season rally scoring.

On the set, Cassidy Mangum threw in 36 assists, placing her at No. 5 in CSUDH's all-time single-season rally scoring record list with 534 total sets.

The Toros quickly grabbed a 6-5 lead in set one and never looked back as they motored on to a 25-20 win, never giving up the lead.

All appeared lost in the second game as CSUDH faced a 13-18 deficit through the game.  A powering seven-point streak capped with a Clark ace, gave them the edge at 20-18 to end on a 29-27 positive note.

CSUDH used the nights momentum to grab an easy 25-19 win in set three following a final three-point push.

Overall, the Toros boasted a .273 attack percentage after 50 kills while the Warriors grabbed 44 kills, helped by Lianne Vicchio's 14.

The win improves the Toros to an 2-26 overall clip (2-19 CCAA). CSUDH will see action again tomorrow as they take on the No. 25 Wildcats of Chico State. First serve is set at 7:00pm.
