CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills played 11th-ranked UC San Diego even on a warm Friday night, but the visiting Tritons used a late tally to take a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Toros to spoil the marquee match-up on Homecoming.  Jessica Murphy notched the lone goal in the loss.

Murphy got the scoring started early after taking a cross from Brooke Thompson that went untouched through the Triton zone.  After collecting, Murphy shuttled her shot past Triton keeper Kristin Armstrong for a quick 1-0 lead.

The visitors answered 15 minutes later, however as Sarah McTigue collected a pass from Anne Wethe, and then blasted her shot past CSUDH keeper Alyssa Congdon for the equalizer.

That's where the score stood until late in regulation when Alyssa Newcomer took matters onto her own feet, collecting a loose ball 15 yards out, and lofting it over a hard rushing Congdon for the game-winner after Wethe stole the ball near midfield.

The Tritons, now 12-2, 9-2 CCAA, out-shot CSUDH 6-5 and enjoyed a 6-2 corner kick edge, with Armstrong making 2 saves compared to zero for Congdon.

The Toros, now 9-7, 8-5 CCAA, look to get back into the win column on Sunday as Cal State East Bay pays Carson a visit, with CSUDH honoring their seniors prior to the 2:00 pm first kick.
