Jon Alia Earns Wilson/CCAA Baseball Player of the Week Award

Jon Alia batted .529 and posted a 1.235 slugging percentage as the Toros split with UC San Diego last weekend.
Walnut Creek, CA -- Junior first baseman Jon Alia had a strong offensive showing in helping Cal State Dominguez Hills gain a split against No. 14 UC San Diego last week, earning him the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for the week of March 17, it was announced by the CCAA Conference office.
The Newbury Park native hit safely in all four games as he batted .529 (9-for-17) with six runs scored and nine RBI, while posting a whopping 1.235 slugging percentage.
Alia collected six extra base hits, including three doubles and three home runs, and totaled 21 total bases. He ended the series in impressive fashion as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored and six RBI.
Alia had a double and home run in the series finale as the Toros regrouped to take two in La Jolla after dropping single games to the Tritons in Carson on Thursday and Friday.
The Toros continue CCAA hosting duties this week as Cal State L.A. visits Carson for single games on Thursday and Friday, before shifting the regular season series to Los Angeles for a Saturday morning doubleheader.
