Mission, KS -- On the heels of last week’s two wins to open up CCAA play and forward Jordan Rover's first-career Brine/CCAA Player of the Week award, Cal State Dominguez Hills moved up to No. 13 from No. 22 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Top 25, it was announced by the NSCAA.
The Toros, having won their last four games, currently sit at 4-1, 2-0 CCAA, and are led by seniors Sammy Rivas (pictured) and Jose Serpas, with three goals and an assist each, including consecutive game-winning goals by Serpas at Grand Canyon on August 30 and September 2 against defending Far West Champion Seattle University. In net, sophomore Derby Carrillo has allowed just one goal in four contests, posting a miniscule 0.25 goals against average.
At No. 4, Seattle Pacific is the highest-ranked West Region school ranked, while Seattle checks in at No. 21.
The 13th-ranked Toros host San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay this weekend for CCAA contests, with first kick for Friday’s game against the Gators set for 7:00 pm in Toro Stadium.
